 After Lucifer's defeat in his war against Heaven, the most wicked of his allies were damned and exiled to Hell where they became the Fallen. Lilith, Lucifer's Right Hand, became queen and lover of the then-Archangel Sammael. When Sammael fell, he joined Lucifer as his Left Hand.
